Goods worth over R1 million recovered after break-in

RANDPARK RIDGE - Business break-in suspects arrested.

Two suspects, aged 21 and 38, recently appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court on charges of possession of stolen property and business break-ins.

Spokesperson for Honeydew Police Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs said, Londoloza Security responded to an alarm at two shops at Lifestyle Garden Centre in Randpark Ridge.

“On their arrival, they found the front doors of the shops forced open. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the one safe was grinded open and the other blasted open.”

The first suspect was arrested close to the scene, shortly after the incident.

A second suspect was arrested by the Honeydew Detective Services after further investigation.

Strategic business coordinator for Londoloza Jono Rudolph explained that the suspects broke into a jewellery shop and used explosives to gain access into a safe next door.

“More than a R1 million worth of jewellery, cash and other goods were recovered.” Rudolph gave credit to their security force and tactical unit. “Explosives used in the crime were also recovered,” he shared.

“Our vigilant staff were awarded for their rapid response and recovery of more than a million in cash jewellery and stolen goods. Our slogan Criminals fear us is a reality,” he concluded.
