Abducted Nigerian girls: “They are not slaves”

Princess pleads along with rest of world for girls to be freed.

Princess Primary School expressed great sympathy and pleaded along with the rest of the world for more than 200 abducted Nigerian girls to be freed.

In April this year the terrorist group Boko Haram kidnapped the girls near the Cameroonian border in the Nigerian city of Chibok. Boko Haram militants demand that all of their prisoners are freed before they will release the girls.

The school in Roodepoort, however, showed their support for the Bring Back Our Girls Campaign by drawing up some touching posters, singing and praying during a special assembly.

Some of the messages written on the posters read: ‘They are not slaves’.

“We truly feel for the families of the abducted children,” school spokesperson Eden Daniels says.

“Princess Primary heeded the call of Minister Angie Motshekga for all schools to have a special assembly in support of the Bring Back Our Girls Campaign.

“The Grade Rs sang the beautiful Swing Low Sweet Chariot, followed by the Grade 6s displaying heartwarming posters on the walls of the school hall while the Grade 7s participated in a beautiful candle ceremony.

“Our Head of Department as well as the school principal then explained the Campaign and reasons for it to the pupils.”
