Understanding consumer credit

Corporate Rebels teaches local business people about consumer credit at a Rocci workshop.

Corporate Rebels collaborated with the Roodepoort Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Rocci) to teach local entrepreneurs about consumer credit.

Eugéne Joubert and Adrian Jonck from Corporate Rebels, a company that deals in placements and employee training, addressed a crowd of local business people at the Roodepoort Civic Centre on Wednesday (4 June).

Joubert led a discussion on consumer credit in terms of the Consumer Protection Act and the National Credit Act. He responded to scenarios that the entrepreneurs had experienced previously. Along with the dos and don’ts, residents were told what is considered credit and when a transaction becomes credit-based.

“Everybody that extends credit to a client must register first – and it is not a quick process.”

Joubert and Jonck extended their workshop, which was supposed to run from 9am until 11am, to 12 noon in order to give attendees chance to understand its application to their personal ventures. They also made a book on the subject available to attendees at the end of the session.
