Robbed of weapons and delivery vehicle

Weapons and bulletproof vests also stolen during vehicle robbery.

A British American Tobacco sales representative was robbed of his delivery vehicle and security guards of their weapons in Trezona Avenue on Monday morning (2 June).

The sales representative was in Arizona Supermarket at the corner of Trezona Avenue and Proot Street, deliver cigarettes when a man approached him from behind. The man demanded him not to turn around, threatening to shoot and forced him out of the shop. He demanded the keys of the vehicle as well as to the safe. According to police statements he got the keys from the man and told him to lie down in the road.

“Around this time, a silver Alpha Romeo GT drove into the parking lot.

“The two men proceeded to harass and assault the Fidelity security guards that had escorted the delivery vehicle to the shop,” the policeman said.

Their weapons and bulletproof vests were taken and the two suspects got away with the delivery vehicle and its stock.

Fidelity area manager Norman Lundie was on scene and said he had instructions from head office to decline to comment. The manager of Arizona Supermarket says nothing was taken from the shop and they were not harmed. No estimate of the monetary damage to Fidelity Security was supplied.
