Tap your feet and sing along

WELTERVREDEN PARK - Stageworx School of Performing Arts returns with a new show.

Stageworx School of Performing Arts of Weltevreden Park returns with a new show called Tick Tock Boom on 27 to 29 June.

The show will take place at the Roodepoort Theatre Main Auditorium. According to the producer of the show Gemma Donnelly, it is about a group of scientists that are asked to invent a time machine. “Things seem to be going well until a miscalculation causes the time machine to malfunction and muddles up all the time eras. This leaves past icons such as Sonny and Cher and Marilyn Monroe stuck in 2014,” said Donnelly.

The show is suitable for any age and is sure to get everyone tapping their feet and singing along. The arts school is fully integrated and has children with and without special needs, from advantaged and disadvantaged areas.

“They all work together to create the theatre, and they help conceptualise the story of the musical. Also, they help write the original songs and help with the design of the costumes,” media liaison Claire Pacariz said.

Pacariz emphasised that the students do not just perform but also become part of the whole process in order to learn all the aspects of musical theatre.

“Their 2012 production of Sing It was played to sold-out audiences and also played to local schools in 2013. It received rave reviews from local newspapers,” Pacariz shared.

The show will start on 27 June at 7.30am and will continue on 28 June at 2.30pm as well as on 29 June at 2.30pm.

Tickets cost R100 and are available at www.roodepoorttheatre.com. Pensioners and children under the age of 12 will pay R80. There will be a 10 percent discount on booking of 10 or more tickets.
