School boy critical after being knocked over

It is presumed that he was on his way to school when the accident occurred.

A Grade 12 pupil was found in critical condition after he had been knocked over by a vehicle on Christiaan de Wet Road this morning (29 May).

The accident occurred at around 7.42am near the intersection of Christiaan de Wet Road and Struben Avenue, says Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann. The pupil (17) is presumed to have been on his way to school when a vehicle knocked him over. Details as to which high school he is attending remain unconfirmed.

Paramedics found him in critical condition and treated him on scene. He was airlifted later to a nearby medical facility to receive the urgent medical care he required.

“Exact details to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation,” says Steinmann.
