Safety edutainment show for Maragon Schools pupils

RUIMISG - ADT hosted a saftey edutainment show for Maragon Primary and Pre-Primary School pupils.

Maragon Pre-primary and Primary schools were treated to a home-safety skills interactive show, run by ADT Security.

Hosted by well-known Johannesburg entertainer Darrin McDowall, the show focused on bullying at schools, home robberies, keeping belongings safe, being alert by paying attention to the surroundings and how to get help from the police.

Also, they were taught about home invasions, how and when to use panic buttons during emergencies, and what to do if a stranger comes to their house.

“We are busy discussing safety and dangers in the house and garden. As part of educating the children, we contacted ADT to come in and consolidate the learning that has been happening in the classroom,” said Maragon Private Schools’ Grade 1 teacher Tami Haefele.

She added that both teachers and pupils had fun.

“I enjoyed Tarry the turtle when he kissed Mr ADT,” said Grade 1 pupil Sandy Gantsho.

Another Grade1 pupil Aasdil Jadwat said, he learnt about keeping his toys safe at home after he’s finished playing with them.

McDowall explained that every year, this social awareness programme discusses different themes to empower children about safety knowledge and the dangers that exist in the society.

“The show is a happy medium that keeps children both informed and entertained,” he said.

He also mentioned that the shows are hosted by ADT at no cost to the schools.
