Build a bridge, get over it

ROODEPOORT – Spaghetti sticks and glue create amazing bridges in the hands of talented Agape Christian School pupils.

Grade 7 pupils from Agape Christian School in Weltevredenpark proved to be quite the civil engineers in training during their recent natural sciences project.

The pupils were tasked with building bridges, using only spaghetti sticks and craft glue.

“This project was based on the suitability of different materials for different applications,” teacher Ignis van Rooyen said. “In class we talked about the Nelson Mandela bridge and the material it’s made from and how the material is suitable for the bridge. The learners had to design the best and strongest possible bridges that they can, and then build it out of spaghetti and craft glue. Using a theoretical budget, they came out with great designs.”
