Getting to know Horison Block Watch

The watchdogs of Horison extended their hands in greeting their community.

Residents were offered the opportunity to get to know the Horison Block Watch over the weekend at the Bétesda Church in Horison.

Members of the neighbourhood watch held a fun day at the church on Andries Bruyn Street and residents were invited to stop by for a hot dog and a chat in order to understand their work better. Existing members attended the event to have their radios reprogrammed in order to keep the network secure. Members of the Tornado, Honey Hills, Horizon View and Ontdekkers Park neighbourhood watches were invited also to get their radios reprogrammed.

“We do this once every few months in order to keep the network secure.

“Today is about encouraging involvement in the community,” said patrol captain Steve du Toit.

“Keeping yourself alert and aware of the happenings in your surroundings brings you closer to better security.”

Michelle Basson who handles the block watch’s public relations helped with reprogramming the radios.

The block watch’s annual general meeting will be on Tuesday 17 June at the Bétesda Church at 7pm.
