David Makhura is Gauteng premier

Provincial secretary-general David Makhura has been chosen as the new premier of Gauteng, replacing outgoing Nomvula Mokonyane.

This was announced earlier today at ANC headquarters, Luthuli House, along with the names of the other chosen provincial premiers for the rest of the country.

“The ANC is very concerned about Gauteng and its not a secret,” said deputy secretary-general Jessie Duarte.

Duarte also noted that the new premiers are to market their provinces as destinations for investments.

Treasurer-General Zweli Mkhize explained that the ANC was committed to gender balance within its ranks on the provincial and national levels.
