11 arrested for excessive speeding

High Speed Unit has succesful weekend.

11 people were arrested over the weekend of 10 May for excessive speeding according to JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnaar.

The JMPD’s High Speed Unit arrested nine motorists on Saturday evening between Midrand and 14th Avenue for speeds exceeding 160km/h.

On Sunday two motorcyclists were arrested at the Beyers Naudé off ramp for driving at a 201km/h. Both the riders who are from Linden and Kibler Park respectively, had female passengers on their motorcycles.

All those arrested were charged at the Honeydew Police Station and released on R1 500 bail each.

They will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court on 12 May.

  1. Being reckless and speeding are two very different things. Focus on unroadworthy taxis & drunk drivers – they kill more people than the speedsters. If there are no cars around in the middle of the night… why not?

Easy to pick on bikerz to build the jmpd cofferz… Itz a known fact that municipalitiez target the so called middle class nd above coz these are the personz that are easily exploited… These are the citizens that are targeted intentionally…Most timez itz motorists that endanger the livez of Bikerz…
