Celebrate Mother’s Day at the botanical gardens

POORTVIEW - Mothers to be celebrated with music and dance at Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden.

On Sunday 11 Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens in Poortview will host a Mother’s Day Concert. Principal Marketing and Communication Officer of the garden, Ronny Tshabalala boasted that the event will bring fun-filled day of music and dance at their serene outdoor venue. “We will be having the best local artist tom celebrate the wonderful women who have made us who we are today.”

According to Tshabalala the first performer will be on stage at 1pm. “Opening the stage will be Henry Van Dyk, the uncrowned prince of Afrikaans romance music singer.”,

Van Dyk is said to open the arena with love songs from his album titled “Laat die Liefde Leef …” The album which has had 25000 views on You Tube will be on sale on the day with Van Dyk’s autograph. He is touted as South Africa’s own Josh Groban and also sings in Italian and English.

Tshabalala added that a trio of women known as Kisuri Queens will also render a performance. “Their music is nostalgic and covers various eras from Miriam Makeba, Joy, The Pointer Sisters and many from the bygone era.”

Due to the high number of visitors expected, attendees are urged to come early to secure parking and a good picnicking spot.
