Ridgevale Primary’s deputy principal passed away

She died in her sleep.

For one hour on Friday 9 May Ridgevale Primary School will come to a standstill to honour their Deputy Principal, Elske Chryssoulis who passed away recently. She has worked at the school for 33 years.

According to Ridgevale principal’s secretary, Denise Meyburgh, Chryssoulis died in her sleep at her home on Saturday 3 May. The funeral will take place on Thursday 8 May at the NG Kerk Krugersdorp North at 2pm.

Meyburgh also confirmed that to honour Chryssoulis, a memorial service will be held in the school hall on Friday 9 May from 7.45am where a plaque will be put up in her name. Pupils also will participate in the ceremony.

Chryssoulis started teaching at Ridgevale in 1982 as a Foundation Phase educator and later was promoted to Deputy Principal.

Meyburgh further described her as, “Someone who not only contributed to teaching, but also to managerial duties.

“She was friendly, endearing, compassionate, a people’s person and extremely dedicated. She always had time to talk and listen to a person.

“She will be missed by present and past pupils, and left a large void that will be difficult to fill.”
