Local author’s book now available in English

Maretha Maartens releases an English version of the book Way Better than Popcorn, a true story.

The epic life story of Hendrik Rocher is available also in English with the title Way better than popcorn.

The Afrikaans version of the book, Die beste ding since popcorn, made headlines in Roodepoort a few years ago and was presented as an amateur stage production at Hoërskool Roodepoort at the time. Former manager of the record, Theo Eybers translated the book.

It is a true story full of humour and emotion about the heroin addict who changed his ways.

Rocher lived in Roodepoort with his parents and his mother, Gertina, who has a prominent role in the book. He was involved actively in anti-substance abuse organisations and the force behind the SOS Support Group on the West Rand.

Way better than popcorn is an easy-to-read story that may change your life, Eybers says. It is available from www.leisurebooks.com at R130 per copy for non-members and R110 per copy for members of the club. More information on the book is available atwww.seker.co.za.
