Major heroin bust in Florida

Gauteng K-9 Unit arrests six for dealing in drugs.

Florida Police made a major breakthrough in their fight against drugs just days after Station Commander Colonel Cassie Rautenbach had explained the extent of the drug problem in their area to the record.

On Sunday 27 April – just three days after Rautenbach announced they would not back down in their war against drugs – members of the Gauteng K-9 Unit arrested six suspects in connection with drug dealing in the area.

All those arrested are Nigerian nationals aged between 32 and 44, and all of them face a charge of dealing in drugs.

According to Florida SAPS spokesperson, Captain Lydia Dikolomela, “During the bust police found close to R10 000 in cash, approximately 380 bowties containing an illegal white substance believed to be heroin/ rocks, as well as nine cellphones.”

Dikolomela added, “At around 8am, a member of the Gauteng K-9 Unit was patrolling when he spotted a man suspected of drug trafficking. The man was searched and drugs were found in his possession.

“Police did not leave it at that and went to the man’s place of residence where they found more suspects in possession of drugs with a street value of R200 000.”
