Dance battles with the best

ROODEPOORT - Mario Gomes Dance Academy takes 54 medals home after Hip Hop Championship.

It’s official: the dancing crown belongs to Noordheuwel.

The Battle of the Giants competition took place from 11 to 13 April at Sun City and it saw some of the best Hip Hop dancers in South Africa battle it out.

Owner of Noordheuwel-based Mario Gomes Hip Hop Dance Academy, Mario Gomes, expressed his satisfaction with the win. His dance school is currently ranked as the number one dancing academy in South Africa after the competition.

“We took home 54 medals and numerous dancers were called back for the semi-finals,” Gomes recounted.

The LXD Mega crew and Hush crew tied for the second place in the Hip Hop Formation competition.

“The spirit and passion of the dancers made this competition a big success – they danced their hearts out.”

The world Hip Hop championships will take place in Germany in September.

“The only goal for the dancers now is to keep on working hard and focus on the world champs.”
