Pedestrian rescued from beneath vehicle

"Man (30) trapped for approximately 10 minutes" — ER24 paramedics.

A 30-year-old male pedestrian sustained serious injuries when a vehicle hit him on Ontdekkers Road this morning.

According to ER24 reports, paramedics and A1 Assist tow truckers found the man trapped beneath a sedan. In a joint effort, ER24 paramedic Heinrich Nel and tow trucker Ralph Watson who were first to arrive at the scene immediately started preparing to remove the trapped and injured man.

The tow truck was used to lift the vehicle off the man who had sustained multiple suspected fractures and was bleeding profusely.

After the man was freed, he was transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.

It is believed the man had been trapped for approximately 10 minutes and paramedics said that if the rescue operation was delayed the weight of the vehicle would have caused him grievous harm.

The exact cause of the incident is under investigation.
