Relief for motorists as potholes are patched

ROODEPOORT - JRA takes it one road at a time.

Potholes in Braam Street were patched over the weekend, to the relief of motorists who work around the business node of Laser Park, in Honeydew.

Motorists were forced to develop stunt driving skills, in order to dodge the alarming number of potholes on these roads, for more than a year. Bela Broekman who works in the Wild Fig Business Park, in Cranberry Street, said that staff and visitors struggled to drive on these roads, to gain access to the business park.

She added that they sent a letter of complaint to Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) and nothing was done to rectify the issues mentioned, until roads agency employees were spotted patching potholes on 13 April by Honeydew resident John Vorster.

“The entity managed to repair the entire stretch of Braam Street and it will make our lives a lot easier now,” Vorster commented.

Furthermore, Broekman added that Cranberry Street still needs attention.

“Currently this section is completely neglected and really deserves attention. The verges also need attention, the state of neglect breaks down the entire image of the area,” she complained.

JRA spokesperson Bertha Peters-Scheepers, thanked the residents in the area for their patience and confirmed that Cranberry Street would also receive attention.

“We urge residents to remain calm while the repairs are under way. They are welcome to log their issues and problems with roads in their various areas.”
