Taxi commuters injured

WELTEVREDEN PARK - Taxis driving on emergency lane cause accident.

10 Commuters were injured in a collision between a taxi and a bus on the intersection of Hendrick Potgiter and Jim Fouche roads in Weltevreden Park, Roodepoort on 7 April. The ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene to find the injured taxi commuters surrounded by a curious crowd. Paramedics began assessing the injured, finding all of the patients fortunately sustained only minor injuries. The patients were immobilised on spine boards before they were transported to Helen Joseph hospital for further treatment.

According to the witnesses on scene, who spoke to the paramedics, two taxis had apparently attempted to pull over in the emergency lane, cutting in front of a bus. The bus was unfortunately unable to stop in time, causing it to collide with a taxi and then a knock-on effect with another taxi.
