Mrs Mooi for Mrs South Africa

LITTLE FALLS – Successful business woman, wife and mother from Little Falls now also a contestant in Mrs SA pageant.

Little Falls resident Riana Mooi has a successful career, a happy family and if her surname is anything to go by, she definitely has the looks.

That’s not all because this 42 year-old mother of two, is in the running for Mrs South Africa 2014.

However, life was not always prosperous for Mooi, in the beginning. Her earliest years were spent living in Durban, bearing the brunt of an abusive father, after that she was adopted by her godparents when she was 13.

“I had a difficult childhood,” remarked Mooi, “but that’s what spurred me on to lead a better life. A successful life. A happy one.”

“At 18, I decided to move to Johannesburg and began working part time as a model. I even took part in the Miss South Africa Fashion show when I was 19.”

She then started climbing the corporate ladder of banking. “I worked hard to have a successful career and I now work as a Risk Manager for Nedbank in Sandton.”

It was not long after she started working as a banker when she met the love of her life and husband of 22 years, Craig Mooi. Together they have raised two sons Brad (21) and Dilon (17).

“I entered Mrs South Africa because I want to inspire women, who like me, do not come from the best of circumstances, regardless of their age or situations,” explained Mooi, flashing a gorgeous smile.

“As women we can accomplish anything we set our minds to. It just takes patience and perseverance.”

Apart from the through grueling interviews, a swimwear and ball gown competition, as a semi-finalist of the Mrs South Africa pageant, Mooi will also have to raise funds for charity and be voted for by the public.

The top 22 finalists will be announced on 12 April at Emperor’s Palace, during gala dinner to be held in aid of CANSA. Simply SMS “Riana Mooi” to 35959 to vote for this local beauty. SMS’s cost R3 and one can vote multiple times. Voting lines will close at 6pm on 11 April.
