Pikitup’s employees have been caught out again damaging residents’ wheelie bins.

On 20 March Nicholas Oelofse, a pensioner from Maraisburg North, went out to collect his brand-new bin only to see it lying in the street minus its lid.

Oelofse gave chase on foot while the workers on the back of the truck mockingly laughed at him.

When he finally caught up with the truck in the next street he took photos of its registration plates.

He then had to argue with the driver to give him back his lid. The driver instructed the workers reluctantly to find the lid but the lid they gave to Oelofse was not his. He decided to take it anyway.

His neighbour came out only to see his bin being dragged behind the truck also minus its lid.

After Oelofse asked around he found out that more bins had been damaged in the same area on the day.

Oelofse says that he is prepared to lay charges if the employees are not reprimanded appropriately.

“It’s time to take strict action as this behaviour is nonsense. These workers who continuously damage our bins have no regard for other people’s property,” says Oelofse.

The registration number of the truck in question is XFM 625 GP.
