Imagine Youth Festival a big success

JOBURG - Weekend held to enlighten pupils about the advantages of including religion into their lives

One of South Africa’s biggest youth events coined ‘Imagine Movement’ took place from 21 to 23 March in a camp site close to Pretoria.

Project manager at Light Project Management Lindie Pienaar who was involved with organizing the event, said that a large number of pupils from the Northside attended the event.

Media and Marketing Manager for the Imagine Movement, Jana Marx explained that the main purpose of the event was to show young people the advantages of following Christ and involving Him in their lives.

“The event had different themes each day and we held various praise and worship sessions and activities that allowed pupils to learn more and express themselves freely. Pupils from 13-years-old to 19-years-old attended the event. We held two information sessions on Saturday morning and later the afternoon. These sessions empower the pupils to go and preach the gospel in their home towns.” Pupils at the event had to bring along their own tents and the men and women slept in their own campsites and the camping helped pupils connect and form new friendships.

The highlight of the event was when approximately 3200 pupils attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the biggest amount of people that played Air Guitar. The previous record was 2377 people and Marx was not sure if the record was broken at time of going to print.

Marx concluded, “The event was a big success and we go from strength to strength each year, we are hoping to draw more pupils next year.”
