New talent at comedy showcase surprises

Stages Restaurant plays host to comedians.

With the success of comedians such as Trevor Noah, comedy rapidly is becoming the new rock and roll, growing both in support and in the number of comedians taking to the stage.

On 21 March the Civic Centre’s Stages Restaurant hosted the Sooffah Comedy Couch Election Special.

Comedians such as Nadiem Solomons, Isuru, Mo Mathebe, George Kuda and Aljoy Chik & Alson all entertained the capacity crowd with their wit and humour.

A factor contributing to the success of the evening was that the comedians mingled with the crowd, which prevented the event from being a stuffy affair.

It also was encouraging to see the talent and depth of so many up-and-coming comedians and refreshing to find out that some of these stand-up comedians have “day jobs” such as being students in diverse disciplines such as science and economics.

One only can hope that more of these events will come Roodepoort’s way.
