Joburg Zoo and Lake turning 110

JOBURG – Music, tours and other entertainment to abound as Joburg Zoo celebrates its birthday.

Joburg Zoo and Zoo Lake are celebrating their 110th birthday on 23 March and invite residents from all over the city to celebrate with them.

Celebrations will take place at the zoo between 11am and 3pm and people are invited to have picnics near the bandstand, where a music concert will be held.

The Joburg Symphonic Orchestra, led by Etienne Mecloen, and other music artists will perform.

Guided tours will take people to old heritage buildings and enclosures where animals used to reside.

A photo booth will also be available for people to have portraits taken with their families and friends.

Entertainment for children will include mimes, face painters, stilt walkers and jumping castles.

Admission fees are standard (R61 adults, R38 children 3-12 years and children under 3 are free).
