Local racing team launched

JOBURG - RaceWorx team set to service motocross riders at events across South Africa.

Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM launched its own racing team called “RaceWorx Racing” on 14 March at Clearwater Mall, which is set to take the motocross industry in South Africa by storm.

Guy Henley, whose construction company Out of Africa Developments has sponsored the racing team, was guest speaker at the launch.

“We have put the team together so that experienced and talented old farts, still keen on having fun, will pass on our experience to the youth,” he joked.

“The team consists of 16 motocross riders ranging from seven to 43 years of age,” he said. “And we as team managers have a combined racing knowledge and experience of over 100 years, so we’ve assembled a wealth of experience to build a very successful team.

“Most teams run either pro’s only or juniors only, thus we’ve decided to combine it in order to achieve a more balanced youth rider that has a true understanding of what a race team is about.”

Riders also have an opportunity to actually learn from previous South African champions, riders with huge amounts of experience, and riders with international exposure, while at the same time having fun doing it all.
