Find out when and how long your suburb will be affected by Eskom's load shedding measures.

Eskom has announced on 6 March that it will have to resort to the same extreme load-shedding measures last seen in 2008, owing to the large volumes of rain leaving their coal stocks wet.

“We ask all our customers to use electricity sparingly by switching off non-essential appliances and equipment during peak hours,” says Louis Pieterse, City Power’s Director of Engineering Operations.

Customers are urged to switch off appliances and equipment during outages to prevent damage from power surges.

Eskom also indicated that the aim is for all users to save at least 10 per cent electricity, saying that even this might not be enough to prevent continued load shedding.

  8. This is a load of crap.
Our country’s infrastructure is a joke.
firstly, for example, a country like England has rain for approximately 70^% of the year and never has these kinds of set backs.
Secondly, you never hear of load shedding in areas such as Soweto or Alexander, because the government is scared of the uproar it will create. Yet these are the areas where it is known that people refrain from paying electricity.
