Two girls dead in apparent satanic ritual

Suicide pact not ruled out but unlikely.

The bodies of two Sowetan schoolgirls, Thandeka Moganetsi (14) and Chwayita Rathazayo (15) were found mutilated in a field in Dobsonville on 19 February by a man who was hunting there. It is believed that the murders could have been committed as part of a satanic ritual.

Police believe their deaths were related to satanism since black candles and razor blades were found next to their bodies. Friends also say that the two girls were about to join a satanic cult but that one got cold feet. They believe this was the reason the girls were “sacrificed”.

The girls who were dressed in their school uniforms had open wounds to their backs and cuts on their hands and necks.

Gauteng Police spokesperson Neville Mailila says that the possibility of a cult suicide is not being ruled out but that it was unlikely since both girls had nine lacerations each. The police is pursuing a murder investigation.

The SAPS Occult Related Crimes Unit also has been called in to assist with the investigation.
