Mr ADT pays Muslim school a visit

ADT makes safety a priority for My School Islamic Educare kids.

Well-known Johannesburg entertainer and Mr ADT, Darrin McDowall, recently paid Roodepoort another visit to talk about crime safety, this time at the My School Islamic Educare, an Islamic Educare Centre for two- to six-year-olds, situated in Florida.

As usual, Mr ADT taught children home safety skills in a very fun and entertaining way.

The show, a complementary service ADT Security offers to pre-primary and primary schools, focuses on important topics including:

• Bullying

• Home robberies

• Keeping our belongings safe

• Being alert (Paying attention to our surroundings, how to get help/Police/panic buttons etc)

• Stranger danger

• Respecting our fellow South Africans

Other topics also were covered, for instance what is good touching and bad touching, how to use panic alarm buttons, never open the door to a stranger, and the importance of knowing a parent’s contact details and other emergency numbers, such as the number of their security company and the South African Police Service (SAPS).

“Mr ADT presented his show on safety to our little ones with such enthusiasm and he filled our little school with such magic that I know the children (and the staff) will remember the valuable lessons he aimed to teach us all.

“My School Islamic Educare calls on him annually to entertain and teach. We enjoy his shows tremendously,” says Rafehah Orrie, Principal of My School Islamic Educare.

“Unfortunately, in South Africa there is no escape from conversations about crime,” says Clive Humphrey, Managing Director of ADT Central Region.

“Children are never too young to be educated and made aware, in a non-threatening manner, of the dangers that exist in our society. They need to be empowered to be able to protect themselves in a dangerous situation,” says Humphrey.

“Darrin has a fun, friendly way of addressing these pertinent issues. He has found the perfect balance, as the show keeps the children informed and entertained while reinforcing valuable safety tips.”

The Mr ADT shows are presented at local schools and are hosted free of charge by ADT. If a teacher or parent is interested in booking a show for their school, they are welcome to contact Tamryn Carr on 086 12 12 400 or email tcarr.za@adt.co.za for further information.
