Review labour legislation with Rocci

Rocci proposes a labour legislation workshop in order to understand implications for businesses and employers.

Residents and entrepreneurs who find themselves wondering about new labour legislation and its impact on their everyday operations are encouraged to join Rocci for a workshop on the subject on Tuesday 25 March.

Parliament recently passed the Labour Relations Amendment Bill, and all submissions made by businesses concerning the Employment Equity Bill have been rejected by the government, explained the invitation.

Rocci’s Lillian Matlhaku suggests joining the workshop that will be presented in March to understand what changes are relevant to one’s business. The workshop will shed some light on fundamental changes to trade union rights and entitlements and limitations on the right to strike. It will explore how challenging CCMA awards will be more difficult, the prohibition of the right to dismiss and procure changes to conditions of employment as well as identify the risks that employers face.

“What are the practical implications for employers?” she posed the question. The workshop further will promote understanding of the material changes to temporary employment services and fixed-term contracts of employment as well as the important changes to the Labour Relations Act and the Employment Equity Act.

“Most line managers, business owners and human resource persons will not understand the implications immediately and this workshop might help guide them.”

The workshop will be held at the Phelindaba Chamber on the first floor of the Roodepoort Civic Centre located at 100 Christiaan de Wet Road, Florida Park. It will run from 9am to 11am and is free of charge.

Residents are encouraged to fill in a booking form and RSVP before Friday 28 February. For more information, contact Lillian on 086 111 3304.
