Raymond Martin, ANC Zone 5 Communication Manager has praised ex-president Nelson Mandela and called on South Africans to do more in honour of the statesman fondly known as Madiba.
“Firstly we want to thank the almighty God for having blessed the world, our continent, our country and in particular our beloved movement, the ANC, with an inspirational leader such as Mr Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. A true servant of the people. Mr Mandela sacrificed his family and his life to fight for freedom and democracy for the people he was anointed to serve,” said Martin.
“South Africa, are we anywhere close to these ideals that Mr Mandela fought for?” asked Martin
“To some extent we have made significant progress, but honestly, a lot still needs to be done to realise the ideals that he was prepared to die for. We should be fully committed to the ideal of a free society where we all live in harmony and the wellbeing of fellow South Africans is the concern of every South African, irrespective of colour or creed. Where an injury to one South African is an injury to all of us.
“We have no doubt that the sons and daughters of this beautiful country will pull together and ensure that we honour the spirit of the Father of the Rainbow Nation,” Martin concluded his touching tribute.
