Brickz out on bail

Kwaito star plans to start foundation to assist those falsely accused of rape.

The rape-accused kwaito star Sipho Brickz Ndlovu has been granted bail of R50 000 by the Palm Ridge High Court after his previous application at the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court on 19 November failed.

Ndlovu who was released from the Krugersdorp Prison yesterday 9 December said that he is planning to start a foundation run by his company, Brigado Entertainment and Kalawa Jazmee Records, to assist those who falsely have been accused of rape.

Ndlovu allegedly raped a 17-year old in March this year.

After his release Ndlovu said after his own ordeal, he has become much more aware of the plight of both rape victims and those who are accused of the act falsely. He also spoke about his time spent in prison since 1 November.

“I am very much at peace. I managed to calm myself. Being in prison was like I was in the township because I was hanging out with the guys, even though life in prison is not the same as outside. For Sipho Ndlovu it was hard, but for Brickz it was a fruitful experience,” said the artist.

Ndlovu’s case will resume in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court on 9 January 2014.
