Business owner recovering after serious collision

Siena Roodt tells how her husband and Roodt Vleis owner Hugo Roodt is doing after his accident.

Hugo Roodt, who sustained serious injuries following a collision on Ontdekkers Road on Wednesday 27 November, is on the road to recovery.

This according to his wife Siena who spoke to the Record on Thursday 5 December. Siena said that he was doing “much better”.

Hugo was involved in a collision with a truck that slipped on a wet road last month, damaging his bakkie severely. The Roodt family confirmed that Hugo is the owner of the well-known Roodt Vleis in Florida.

“He came to on Tuesday 3 December,” Siena explained, saying that he’d been in a coma since he was hospitalised at Life Flora Clinic after the accident.

“We were worried about him sustaining brain damage; fortunately he didn’t.

“He is well on the road to recovery.”

Siena said that although he remains in the ICU at Flora Clinic, the family is hopeful for his full recovery.

“His one lung got hurt pretty badly but he breathes on his own, is on oxygen and is working very hard to get out of there.

“It is by sheer hope, support and prayers that we are in this fortunate position.”

Explaining the entire experience as “very traumatic” and a trying time for the family, Siena expressed her sincere gratitude to all the well-wishes and prayers that they have been receiving from family, friends, customers and “complete strangers”.

“Thank you for your interest in Hugo’s health.”
