New online tune store to promote local artists

In a country where sokkietreffers get the most attention, Banana Tunes broadens the horizon.

You can get practically any song on international online music stores such as iTunes, but what happens when you want to buy a track from Frikkie Wikkelspies from Babsfontein for instance?

Earlier this month, Banana Tunes was launched in South Africa. This sterling initiative was born during discussions around a campfire and materialised by one persistent music lover.

Tanya Jacobs, a bookkeeper by profession and a farm girl by heart, persisted with the idea of giving all South African musicians a platform to market and sell their music to a national audience.

Not only do the artists benefit, but in due time, when music lovers discover a new local artist, chances are that his/ her music would already be on Banana Tunes ready to be purchased and consumed.

In a country where sokkietreffers get the most attention, all music lovers would be thrilled to know that Banana Tunes caters for all genres of music. From heavy metal bands to techno artists, all are welcome on this site, and by the sounds of it, Banana Tunes is not there to rip off any of its users.

The website’s user-friendly design was done by Jacques Walters from www.website.co.za and Tanya is more than satisfied with the result.

Furthermore, Tanya also encourages churches to get on board with this initiative. This will provide a possible income stream for any participating church.

Tanya encourages all artists to get in contact with her 24/7 to discuss the process. She can be reached at info@bananatunes.com. Music lovers are encouraged also to search for their favourite artists on www.bananatunes.com or visit the Banana Tunes’ facebook page.
