Young movie stars honoured in true Oscars style

"It gave them chance to feel really special".

Close to 300 people packed the Roodepoort Theatre (Promusica Theatre) on Sunday night 17 November for the StageWorx Awards and Premiere event.

Fans first had the opportunity to see these amazingly talented young movie stars – dressed to impress as if going to the Oscars – on the red carpet before the VIP showing of the much talked about film, Easter Bunny Who? The night then came to a close with a grand awards ceremony in true Oscars style.

Gemma Donnelly of Stageworx School of Performing Arts says, “The students of Stageworx School of Performing Arts filmed two movies throughout 2013. The juniors filmed Easter Bunny Who? which is a funny tale of the Easter bunny who forgot who he was. The seniors filmed Standing Ovation.

“The movie was filmed and edited by Matthew Marinus from Dream Canvas and directed and produced by Gemma Donnelly from Stageworx.

“The Oscars theme gave all our students an opportunity to feel really special.”

Among the many awards were:

• Best junior actor: Auosh Nana

• Best junior comical role: Tylo Venter

• Best senior actress: Sarah Falconer

• Best senior vocal performance: Natasha Meyers

• Best senior comical role: Brandon Nelson and Jock Kleinhans

The Stageworx Award for 2013 went to Saskia Pocock
