Birds, frogs and fun at Kloofendal

Start December with fun family activities at Kloofendal Nature Reserve.

With an array of nature events and activities lined up, the Kloofendal Nature Reserve and Friends of Kloofendal (FroK) look forward to becoming regulars on Roodepoort holiday schedules.

On behalf of FroK Karin Spottiswoode recommends that residents start their December with a visit to Kloofendal for two events on 7 December.

Inexperienced bird watchers or newcomers will enjoy the Birding for Everybody event with special presenter Grant Egen. From 6am to 8am residents can learn what birding entails and gain some practical experience at it. Tickets cost R60 per adult, R50 per pensioner and R40 per child.

The family can enjoy an evening together at the Nocturnal Frogs family event. Activities include a presentation by Warren Schmidt and a walk to see frogs in their natural habitat. Learn about these amphibians from 6pm to 8pm. Participants are welcome to picnic on site before the event and are reminded to bring raincoats and torches. Tickets cost R70 per adult, R60 per pensioner and R50 per child. For security reasons parking will cost R10 per car.

“For all daytime events, remember your hat, sun cream and refreshments,” Karin suggests.

The reserve entrance is at the corner of Galena Street and Amphitheatre (also known as Veronica) Street.

All bookings can be made with Karin Spottiswoode on 079 693 5608 or 011 674 2980.
