Be festive with these seasonal markets

With Christmas approaching, these markets promise to be an entertaining alternative shopping experience.

With the Festive Season approaching and Christmas decorations being put up, residents can look forward to these three markets that will be held from the end of November.

Ons Huis Home for the Aged will be hosting a Christmas market on Friday 29 November. Besides enjoying various craft and food stalls, residents are invited to bring along presents for either their family members who are living in Ons Huis or for those elderly residents who never receive visitors.

A Santa Clause will be there to hand over these presents to the elderly. Residents are welcome also to bring small presents for their children, which Santa will hand to them during the course of the day. The market will be open from 3pm on Friday until late. For more information, contact Ons Huis on 011 672 5018.

Residents also have the option of a market at 781 Corlett Avenue that will be open for a total of seven days. From Saturday 30 November, this market will be open every weekend until Christmas Day.

From 9am until 5pm every Saturday and Sunday, residents can enjoy arts and crafts and food stalls, as well as fun activities for children. Organiser Sandra Nel says that art and craft stalls can be booked at R50 per day. For more information, contact Sandra on 072 165 9302.

Resident Brenda Wagenaar invites the public to Witpoortjie for a Christmas market on Saturday 14 December. The venue is 7 Dirkie Uys Street and stalls are still available.

The market will be open from 9am to 3pm and she best describes it as “a place to buy alternative Christmas presents that are mostly handmade”. Food stalls will be available. For more information, contact Brenda on 079 884 6679.

For some December fun and alternative Christmas present ideas these craft markets come highly recommended by residents themselves.
