Toastmasters celebrating summer with laughter

... with theme Live, Love, Laugh.

It was yet another entertaining meeting for members of the Bacon and Egg Toastmasters Club following a get-together with the theme Live, Love, Laugh on Saturday 16 November at the Meat and Eat restaurant in Horizon View.

According to Glen Campbell from the club, the word of the day was palatable, meaning of food or drink – pleasant to taste – or of an action or proposal – acceptable or satisfactory.

“Summer is here, and the meeting went off with a bang (no fireworks fortunately),” she added.

Toastmaster for the day was Sandra Cooper while Nikki Quinn, the Area Governor, attended and gave a general evaluation of the meeting.

Ria Hughes was awarded Speech of the Day for her rendition of The Hippy and Aesop Agree. Table Topics was won by Kevin Marsden, the club’s newest member. Viv Roney was awarded Best Evaluator.

Glen concluded by mentioning that, “Our club achieved the President Distinguished Club Award in its first term of Charter. In 2011 to 2012, Graham Shirley, our VP Education, was the Champion of the Table Topics Speech Contest for Southern Africa (District 74).

“In 2012 to 2013 Graham Shirley and Sharon Baumgart won the Southern Africa (District 74) International Speech Contest and Evaluation Contest respectively.

“In 2013 our President, Jerry Mathata, received the Leadership Excellence Award from Bacon and Eggs Toastmasters.”
