17 Injured as taxi rolls

"Two sustained severe injuries": ER24.

A total of 17 people were injured after a minibus taxi rolled on Ontdekkers Road close to Mollie Road this morning Wednesday 13 November.

According to ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson, “A light motor vehicle was towing a trailer, which had an industrial road-side grass cutter on the back. It is believed that the grass cutter fell from the trailer just past Mollie Road on the bridge across the N1 highway in Delarey.

“The taxi apparently was hit by the grass cutter. The taxi driver lost control of his taxi and it rolled onto its roof.

“Paramedics arrived on scene to find that 17 people had been in the taxi at the time, and two of them, although in a stable condition, had suffered quite severe injuries in the form of broken bones and possible head injuries.

“All 17 patients were treated for their injuries on scene and transported to hospitals in the vicinity by ambulance.

“No one else was injured as a result of the collision.”
