Miss Bachelorette finalist raises fund for Cansa

Community arrive in numbers to support good cause.

SA’s Bachelor and Bachelorette of the year 2013 finalist, Anneli Crous described this past weekend’s Cansa Marathon held at Laerskool Horison as a huge success considering hundreds of parents, their children and even the elderly pitched up to support the event.

The main aim of the event was to create awareness and raise funds for Cansa.

“The public was asked to walk around the field for at least one hour as many times as they could. All participants had a tag on their shirts that was stamped after a lap was completed. The number of stamps determined the amount the person raised. One person walked around the field 23 times.

“It was great to see people from all walks of life, from as young as babies still in nappies to the eldest being 81 years old, supporting the event for a good cause.”

In addition to raising awareness about the people suffering from the life-threatening disease of cancer, Crous has been announced as one of five finalists to compete for the crown. The SA Mr and Miss Bachelorette gala event will take place on Friday 8 November at Silverstar Casino.
