Two critical after taxi rolls on Hendrik Potgieter

Two patients transported to hospital after a taxi rolled on Hendrik Potgieter Road.

Paramedics tended to several patients after a taxi rolled on Hendrik Potgieter Road on Friday 18 October.

According to ER24 spokesperson Christo Venter, a taxi rolled at the intersection of Hendrik Potgieter and Gordon Roads on Friday evening.

“The taxi finally came to a standstill against a pole. Some of the patients were flung from the taxi.”

The taxi had collided with another vehicle of which the driver, who was in the vehicle alone, sustained serious injuries.

“Eight patients from the taxi were tended to on scene, having moderate to serious injuries.”

Venter said that one patient from the taxi sustained serious injuries and was transported to Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital for further medical care.

He said that the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
