Rugby enthusiasts meet their idols at Absa Clearwater

For a few hours on Thursday 4 October, Absa bank at Clearwater was spanking green with rugby fans flocking to their branch.

Ahead of their game against the All Blacks, Springboks had a meet-and-greet session with fans. This was part of their community outreach programme in preparation for their Rugby Championship game. The session was very interactive with fans engaging with their sports idols and having cards, t-shirts, rugby balls, caps and posters autographed.

Representing the team were players Patrick Lambie, Francois Louw, Adriaan Strauss and Lourens Adriaanse. The Springbok’s mascot, Bokkie, was also there entertaining fans and posing for photos.

For the UJ (University of Johannesburg) under 13 rugby players, this was a dream come true. Meeting their heroes in person, chatting to them about their careers and receiving tips was something out of this world for the young aspiring sportsmen.

Lucky Absa employees and clients won tickets to attend the game on Saturday 5 September at Ellis Park Stadium.
