Kilburn Centre parking area gets facelift

More upgrades are rumoured to start soon.

Discovery — Spar and other shop frequenters were relieved to see that new paving was being installed in the parking area of the Kilburn Shopping Centre on Kilburn Street on Monday 30 September.

For the past two weeks, according to Joseph Nyoni of the contracting company Tarring Co, they have been working on upgrading the parking area.

“It’s a lot of work but people generally seem happy that it is being upgraded.”

Although residents seem annoyed with the limited number of parking spaces available when the Record visited the centre on Monday, Spar co-owner Nick Tsoumbris believes that the irritation soon will be replaced with happy smiles “and hopefully, more feet.

“The parking lot was in need of some repairs but the centre owner’s decision to pave it came as a pleasant surprise,” Tsoumbris says.

“Hopefully, this upgrade will give the centre a new look and make it more comfortable for residents to support us.

“If more feet enter this store and the other stores in the centre, Spar also can look at doing some upgrading.”

Nyoni was happy to be photographed while working with his team to get the job done.

Some shop owners said that they heard rumours that owner Wendy Buchman was planning other upgrades in the centre in the near future.
