Large funeral planned for biker Kobus

Mass ride scheduled to pay final respects.

The Coetzee family confirmed that a large funeral service will be held this Friday 27 September for the late AJ (Klein Koos/ Kobus) Coetzee (22) who died in a motorcycle accident over the weekend.

Brother-in-law of the deceased, James Dryden says, “We will pay our last respects to Kobus by starting with a mass ride at 11am at the Village @ Horizon, followed by the funeral service at the West Rand Bikers Church in the Roodepoort MOTH Hall, c/o Meyer and Dieperink Streets in the CBD before he will be laid to rest at the Sterkfontein Cemetry”.

Those who wish to join the mass ride have been asked to meet in the parking lot of the shopping centre at the KEG.

Coetzee tragically died following a collision with a truck at an intersection near Princess Crossing Shopping Centre.

The family confirmed that Coetzee was on his way home to his fiancée in Krugersdorp after having attended a 21st party in Florida.

Coetzee leaves behind his grandmother, mother, two sisters and fiancée whom he moved in with just over a year ago.

Coetzee was a former Hoërskool Bastion pupil who matriculated in 2011.

Dryden spoke highly of his brother-in-law, describing Coetzee as an amazing person.

“You do not have enough pages for me to describe what a wonderful person he was,” Dryden told the Record.

“He had big dreams. The death of his father was tough on him and things were just starting to get better when this happened. He was a very friendly, good natured, decent, neat, kind and well-mannered young man.

“He was one of those people who could put a smile on anyone’s face. He was absolutely crazy about motorbikes. AJ was just seven years old when he got his first motorbike, and loved riding it ever since.”

Coetzee also was a member of the Sabres West Rand Bike Club.
