Three women injured in two separate collisions

One of them eight months pregnant.

One woman suffered serious injuries and two others minor injuries – one of them eight months pregnant – following two separate accidents in Horison on Wednesday 18 September.

The afternoon turned out to be a busy one for paramedics and the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) as they had to rush to the two separate accident scenes.

The first incident occurred at the corner of Crane Avenue and Kingfisher Street where an elderly woman had to be treated following a collision with another vehicle. Luckily for the woman, motorists, bystanders and tow truck drivers kept her calm before ER24 paramedics arrived.

In the second incident a few kilometres away at the corner of Mouton and Ontdekkers Road a woman suffered serious injuries and another woman – believed to be pregnant – suffered minor injuries in a five-vehicle collision.

The Record found traffic being backed up heavily as four vehicles were lodged into another. JMPD quickly put out safety cones while Joburg EMS was also on scene to assist.

The fifth vehicle allegedly sped off, according to a tow truck driver on scene. The vehicles damaged in the collision were a yellow Uno Fire, a white Toyota bakkie, a silver Toyota Corolla and a blue VW City Golf.

ER24’s Christo Venter and Netcare 911’s Santi Steinmann confirmed that paramedics rushed to the scene to treat the injured.

“Netcare 911 paramedics transported the woman (eight months pregnant) as well as her two-year-old son to hospital. She sustained only minor injuries while ER24 transported the woman with more serious injuries to a nearby hospital for further treatment.”
