Furious public mourn abandoned fetus

Community wants mother's head on a plate.

The public want an unknown mother’s head on a plate.

This follows the discovery of a seven-month-old fetus covered in blood with its umbilical cord still attached and wrapped in newspaper and black bag in a rubbish bin at a traffic circle in Witpoortjie earlier this week.

While police are on the hunt for the mother, her abortion and the way in which she discarded the fetus have caused a major uproar on social networks, with some describing the deed as sickening, cruel and a disgrace.

In just two days, more than 1 300 people viewed the post on looklocal Roodepoort’s facebook page and their comments show no mercy towards the mother.

“That lady needs to be burnt alive while others watch and laugh”.

“What I don’t understand is, why couldn’t she wait 2 more months?”

“SHAME ON YOU….YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO MANKIND!!”

The public also have shown their sympathy towards the fetus by placing lilies, daisies and tulips at the rubbish bin.

The fetus, confirmed to be a girl found in a rubbish bin at a traffic circle in Witpoortjie.

“The baby’s remains were handed over to the local police and they will be conducting an investigation to why the baby was discarded”.

“The mother of the fetus can/ will be charged for the above.

“So far we are investigating to find a suspect, if there’s anyone with information they can contact the police on 071 675 7127/ 7137 or 08600 10111 or SMS crimeline 032211”.

“A spontaneous abortion a possibility” – ER24.

Shoppers and residents were disgusted after a fetus with its umbilical cord still attached was found in a rubbish bin at a traffic circle on the corner of Dirkie Uys and Generaal Pienaar Avenue on Wednesday (4 September) afternoon.

Clemond Sepota who was first to spot the fetus in the bin says, “I was searching for bottles and saw a black bag, but it was heavy. As I opened it, I saw lots of blood and a baby.”

Sepota alerted Douglas van Dyk of the nearby Pick n Pay who alerted the police.

ER24’s Gareth Staley who arrived on scene says, “The fetus is a girl and was possibly seven months old.

“It seems if she had a spinal cord deformity. She most probably was dumped this morning, considering her body being ice cold.

“There was also a pad of the mother attached to the body of the fetus suggesting a spontaneous abortion.”

Many described this as shocking and it is the second incident of its kind in Roodepoort in two weeks.
