Body of man found in veld behind school
"No foul play, suggesting the man died of natural causes," says police.
Police have confirmed that the body of a man was found in a veld behind Hoërskool Bastion on Wednesday afternoon 21 August.
Arriving at the scene were South African Police Service (SAPS) units from Kagiso, Krugersdorp, Roodepoort as well as a Crime Investigation Unit and emergency personnel.
At the Record‘s arrival the man’s body was covered with a white sheet and the attempt to take photographs failed as police quickly asked the reporter to leave the scene.
SAPS spokesperson of the Krugersdorp Cluster, Captain Appel Ernst confirmed that the body of a man was found in the veld.
“It is believed that he died of natural causes. However, a judicial inquiry into the cause of his death was opened at the Kagiso Police Station and police are awaiting the results of the autopsy that still needs to be performed.
“However, there were no signs of foul play, considering he had no injuries or outside wounds, which suggests that the man had not been murdered.”
At this stage the man’s age also is unknown as there was no mention of identification found on him.
