“Wake up community” — ICE

ICE calls public meeting as drugs and crime problem continue to dominate Roodepoort.

While police and various anti-crime organisations are doing all they can to protect and serve, it seems that more needs to be done as the crime and drugs problem continues.

Luqmaan Rahim, chairperson of ICE (In Case of Emergency) that assists the local police in safeguarding the Florida community against criminal activities, urges the public to make themselves available for a very important upcoming public meeting.

He released a statement recently saying, “Our areas are being targeted continuously. Bosmont, Maraisburg, Florida Lake, Fleurhof and Hamburg have been identified as problematic areas. Our children are being robbed in broad daylight and drug peddlers sell drugs to our minors on their way to school.

“Carjackings are taking place every day and house break-ins are on the rise. When exactly will we all decide that we had enough? Are we anticipating that day when it’s too late to do something?

“Are you waiting for it to knock on your door first and then realise I should have, l would have, I could have?

“Find out how ICE Community Policing has managed to curb a lot of our problems we have in our area and how you can be of assistance. What is the way forward? Together we can have one voice.

“Let us all stop talking and start doing. Take a drive to Roodepoort CBD and take a look at what has become of the place.

“Open your eyes. It’s coming our way soon. Secure your investment you have made in your properties. Stop fooling yourselves into thinking it won’t happen to you.”
