One injured in three-vehicle collision

Woman (early 20s) transported to hospital.

A woman was transported to hospital following a three-vehicle collision at the corner of Ontdekkers Road and Starling Street in Horison on Thursday 8 August.

According to ER24’s spokesperson Vanessa Jackson, “The patient is believed to be in her early 20s. She was travelling in the blue Hyundai sitting in the passenger’s seat when another vehicle collided with it from the side.

“ER24 personnel rushed to the scene and had to free the patient with the Jaws of Life. She had suffered possible neck and back injuries and was transported to the Garden City Hospital for further treatment.

“The drivers of all three vehicles were uninjured.”

According to eyewitnesses it seemed that the Hyundai was about to turn into Starling Street when a Volkswagen Golf 6 convertible crashed into it. Whether the traffic light was green or red remains a mystery.

The Record approached the driver of the Golf who said, “The traffic light was still orange when I wanted to cross, and all of a sudden this person drove in front of me”.

Following the impact the Hyundai was forced over the pavement and onto an island between Starling Street and Ontdekkers Road where it came to a standstill. The Volkswagen then collided with a white Geely that was waiting at a stop sign on Starling Street.

All three the vehicles had to be towed away.
