Biker (29) dies in collision

A man (29) dies after his bike collided with a white BMW on Albertina Sisulu Road in Florida.

The Record was called out to an accident scene involving a motorcyclist on Albertina Sisulu Road (previously known as Kathleen Street) on the morning of Friday 26 July.

Netcare 911 personnel responded to an accident at the intersection of Fourth Street and Albertina Sisulu Road in Florida. Upon their arrival they found that a motorcycle had collided with a white BMW.

Tragically, the biker (29) was declared dead on scene. It is alleged that the impact of the bike colliding with the BMW caused the biker’s neck to break, resulting in his almost instant death. Friends of the family who were approached by the Record on scene said that the family was planning a surprise birthday party for the biker, who was to celebrate his 30th birthday on Saturday 27 July. A woman, presumably a family member, girlfriend or wife, arrived on scene and burst into tears. She was not available for comment.

An eyewitness was furious because there were no visible brake marks on the road and said, “There is no evidence that the female driver of the BMW even attempted to brake. Where are the brake marks?”

“Exact details about the cause of the accident and preceding events are unclear and will remain the subject of a police investigation,” Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann told the Record.
