Friends die on Ouklip update: Owner of venue uncertain

“I doubt having seen them here” – owner.

The Record’s investigation involving the death of two young men on Ouklip Road in late June has taken a strange turn.

This after an owner of the entertainment venue where the two men allegedly were seen enjoying themselves before the accident, strongly doubts having seen them inside.

While this owner did not want to be mentioned or her business for that matter, she did tell the Record “I doubt having seen them here” but confirmed that the two men were spotted outside in the parking lot, allegedly “involved in some kind of fight”.

The Record did, however, speak to a friend of the deceased during the week who claims that both Botha and Oosthuizen were in fact seen inside the entertainment venue, and that they had a good time. There is no sound reason to believe that the two kind-hearted friends would be involved in any type of conflict..

The owner expressed that entertainment venues should not and cannot be held responsible when a tragic event such as this occurs.

“Family and friends come here to enjoy themselves and have a good time. Should people get out of hand or cause a problem we ask them to leave. Should people have too much to drink, we have the services of the Scooter Angels to take them home safely.

“Whatever decisions are made outside the venue by people is unfortunately out of our hands,” the owner added.

Scooter Angels with the slogan ‘We drive, you survive’ offers a Designated Driver Service that gets people home safely in the comfort of their own car when they have been drinking.
